Introduction to Brickwork – Level 1 Award
Awarding body: NOCN
Length of Course: 5 weeks
Course dates: 07/05/08 – 05/06/08 (Wed & Thurs)
Cost: £270 (Deposit: £67.50)
Maximum number of students: 12
Previous experience required: None
Overview: An easy introduction to Brickwork, teaching the basic principles of bricklaying, using and maintaining tools, laying bricks to a plumb line, and following drawings and plans. By the end of this course all students will have built a small brick wall suitable as a ground knowledge in brickwork to build garden walls, or to go on to studying level 2 Brickwork.
Intermediate Brickwork - Level 2 Award
Awarding Body: NOCN
Length of Course: 5 weeks (intensive course)
Course dates: 12/01/09 – 13/02/09
Cost: £580 per person (Deposit: £145) - Payment plan available
Maximum number of students: 9
Previous experience required: Level 1 Brickwork, or some construction knowledge. Knowledge of use and maintenance of tools is essential.
Overview:
Continuing from Level 1 brickwork this course will develop knowledge already gained to teach bricklaying to plans, incorporating patterns, and damp courses. This course will also develop knowledge of using concrete breeze blocks, and building around window and door openings.
