Introduction to General Construction Level 1 Diploma

Awarding Body
: NOCN
Length of Course: 20 weeks Full Time
Course dates: 05/05/08 – 19/09/08(Full Time)
Cost: £1200 Per person (deposit: £300) Payment plan available
Maximum number of students: 12
Previous experience required: None

Overview:
This course is a collection of the Level award courses in the following topics:

  • Cabinet Making/Carpentry
  • Brickwork
  • Plastering
  • Tiling
  • Painting & Decorating

    This is an intensive course designed with the aim of giving you some experience of all areas of construction. Please see individual level 1 award details for specific details regarding each of the topics and the contents of them.




    Intermediate General Construction Level 2 Diploma

    Length of Course: 45 weeks total
    Course dates: 09/06/08 – 23/04/09 (Full time)
    Cost: £2960 Per person (Deposit: £300) Payment plan available
    Maximum number of students: 12
    Previous experience required: None

    Overview:
    This course is a collection of the Level award courses in the following topics.

    DIY For The Home

    Length of course:
    10 evenings (Wednesday evening 6-9pm)
    Cost:
    Previous experience required: None

    This is a practical hands-on course designed specifically to teach you the basics you need for doing DIY around your own home. This course has been developed to give you the general skills required to keep your house in good condition. This course is ideal for both men and women of any age who need to learn the basics of repair work in their own homes.

    This course includes the following elements:

    The correct use and handling of tools and power tools
    Fixing and fitting raw plugs
    Wiring plugs
    Fitting a lock to a door
    Repairing doors
    Fixing skirting boards and architraves
    Putting up shelves
    Patch plastering and repairing damaged plasterwork
    Replacing damaged tiles
    Refreshing grout in tiled walls
    Applying tiles to walls
    Replacing washers on taps
    Repairing burst pipes
    Replacing taps
    Repairing silicone sealant on baths, sinks and showers
