Skills for Life Courses* For employers and other partners we are able to offer a range of skills for life courses to help you achieve the demands placed on you by current guidelines for social skills. We can accommodate up to 45 people at a time on Skills for Life courses, please call us if you would like to discuss any training requirements which we may be able to help you with. We are able at the moment to offer a full range of level 1, 2, or 3 skills for life courses including reading, writing, and numeracy. These are run on a demand basis – please contact the centre for details. We are also able to offer a range of ESOL courses, once again contact the centre for details. *These courses are not run on a regular basis and are at a full charge basis as Moseley Training Centre is not currently funded through LSC provision. Construction Health & Safety Law Refresher Training Cost: £175 (inc. VAT) if delivered at Moseley Training Centre and £200 (inc. VAT ) if delivered at an alternative location Length of course: Up to 1 day This course has been specifically designed to meet employer’s needs wherever issues have arisen regarding the Health & Safety management on construction sites or in day-to-day operations. This course is designed to give site-supervisors, managers, safety supervisors, and anyone else concerned with health and safety operations the knowledge they need to be able to ensure that site operations are remaining compliant with the large quantity of legislation and regulations that now cover the construction industry as a whole. This course has proven popular with organisations that have received improvement orders from HSE or have been given poor feedback from HSE inspections. This course covers: Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 Care of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) Work at Heights Regulations 2005 Risk Assessment writing Method Statement writing Site Safety concerns Asbestos Awareness Training Cost: £160 (inc. VAT) if delivered at Moseley Training Centre and £180 (inc. VAT) if delivered at an alternative venue Course costs are for groups up to a maximum of 20 people. Length of course: Half day This course is designed for construction organisations that deal with demolition or renovation of older buildings or premises where asbestos may be present. Asbestos poses a great danger to the long-term health of people working within the construction industry, especially those working on refurbishment and demolition projects. This course is designed to make construction workers aware of the long term risks associated with asbestos, and raise awareness of the symptoms of asbestos related diseases. During the course delegates will receive instruction in how to identify asbestos, what the asbestos looks like, and where it is most likely to be found. After dealing with identification, delegates will receive instruction in the best practices of dealing with asbestos and what they should do when they find any asbestos while carrying out their duties. The majority of work with asbestos now requires a licence which is only available through very strict training courses, this course does not give a person the right to work directly with asbestos, as is it designed as an awareness course only. Risk Assessment& Method Statement Writing Cost: £160 (inc. VAT) if delivered at Moseley Training Centre and £180 (inc. VAT) if delivered at an alternative venue Course costs are for groups up to a maximum of 20 people. Length of course: Half Day This course has been developed specifically to assist employers, managers, supervisors, or any other responsible people to complete risk assessments and method statements, which are a legal requirement under the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974. During the course we will talk you through why risk assessments and method statements are required, the risks associated with not completing them, and the information that is required on them. We will then go onto to discuss the best methods for laying out risk assessments and method statements, using templates and other methods to save time and make the task as simple as possible. The final part of the course is to complete a number of risk assessments and method statements for various scenarios, giving realistic examples and good opportunity for practice, which can then be taken into real-life examples. |
