Course Information & Common Queries

Payment Information
Any course that you wish to take part in must be booked a minimum of two weeks in advance of the start and deposit paid in full before your booking will be confirmed. For most courses full payment must be received before the start date of the course, for some courses it is possible to pay in regular instalments during the course, this is noted in the course details. Education is an expensive investment, but that is just what it is – an investment in your own future, and at Moseley we know that sometimes it is not possible to find all of your course fees in advance.

If you have been unemployed and claiming Job Seekers Allowance your Job Centre Plus office may be able to help you with paying for your course fees. Speak to your Job Centre Plus adviser about whether they can assist you with paying for your course. For some of the more expensive courses we can put in place a payment plan so that you can pay in instalments rather than all in one go – speak to us about how to set up a payment plan. A deposit of a maximum of 25% of the total cost of the course must be made at the time of booking, if a deposit is not made then your place will not be reserved and you may lose your place on the course of your choice.

Depending on the total cost of the course any remaining payments must be received in full before you can start on a course. If your chosen course costs more than £350 and lasts for 4 or more weeks then it is possible to set up a payment plan to pay in instalments. If your course is less than £350 or under four weeks then payment.must be made in full before you will be allowed to start your chosen course. Payments for courses can be accepted in the form of cheque, cash, or credit/debit card. Where it is possible to pay via a payment plan, we can put in place direct debit payments for your course, however certificates and notification of completion of a course will not be sent to you until all payments are received.

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT @ 17.5 %
A VAT receipt will be given once fees have been paid in full.

Payment by Invoice
If your Job Centre or employer are paying for your place on the course we will require a letter from your advisor, manager or accounts department stating that your organisation is happy to pay for your training course. We will confirm this within three days of receiving the letter, and send an invoice as soon as we have confirmed that your course will be paid for by a third party. As soon as full payment has been received and cleared we will inform you of your start date. If your organisation is likely to take more than one month to make its payment we will discuss this with the relevant person from your organisation, however normally you will not be allowed to commence a course until payment is received.

Discounts
For many of our courses there are discounts available if you book level 1 and level 2 courses at the same time. For details please contact the centre or send in your booking form for both courses and we will let you know the total amount you will have to pay.

Education Maintenance Allowance*
If you are aged between 16 and 19, and studying a course which is 2 or more days per week for at least 10 weeks, you may be eligible for receipt of Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA’s). This is applied for directly to the Learning and Skills Council, unfortunately Moseley Training Centre has no power to award EMA’s, we can however assist you in applying for EMA’s, just ask us for help and we will do what we can to help you.

Adult Learning Grants*
In 2007 the Government and Learning and Skills Council started the process of offering up to £30 per week for people aged 19 or over who are studying full time on a level 2 or 3 course. While studying for some of our courses you may be eligible to receive Adult Learning Grants (ALG). This is applied for directly to the Learning and Skills Council, unfortunately Moseley Training Centre has no power to award ALG’s, we can however assist you in applying for ALG, just ask us for help and we will do whatever we can to help you.

* Please note that it is not possible to be in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance and EMA or ALG at the same time. If you are successful in applying for either EMA or ALG you will no longer be eligible for Job Seekers Allowance. Speak to your local benefits office about eligibility for benefits whilst studying.

Refunds & Cancellations policy
In the event of a student cancelled a pre-booked place on any course with Moseley Training Centre we require a minimum of 7 days notice of any cancellation. If your place is cancelled by yourself less than seven days before the start of the course full payment will still be demanded as it will be difficult for us to sell your place to anyone else at such short notice.

In all cases of students cancelling their own places on courses the deposit paid is non-refundable. In cases where a student cancels their place more than 7 days before the planned start date all money paid except the deposit as stated in the course listing will be returned. The deposit is non-refundable.

In cases where an employer, or Job Centre Plus office is paying via invoice, if the student cancels their place on a course and the billed amount still has not been paid, the deposit will still be charged, a new invoice can be raised on request.

In the event of Moseley Training Centre not being able to get a sufficient number of students to be able to run a course that course will be cancelled, a minimum of 3 days notice will be given to all students who have booked a place. Any money already paid to Moseley Training Centre can either be refunded to the student (in cases where we have cancelled a course the deposit will be refunded), or alternatively Moseley Training Centre will hold the money in anticipation of the next available course start date. And advise you of the date that we hope to start your course. We will speak to you as soon as we can about any problems there may be with a course starting on the date published in the prospectus.

Employers
If you cannot find a course which suits your requirements in this prospectus then please get in touch with us and one of our advisors will come to you to discuss your training needs and design a course to suit you. We aim to have a price and a potential start date arranged for you within a week of the first meeting so you aren’t left hanging around waiting for too long.

Whatever you want – if we can do it - we will !!

The majority of our training courses are almost entirely practical keeping the theory elements to a minimum – for this reason any students leaving Moseley Training Centre will have had plenty of experience using and maintaining the tools for their course, and will have learnt at least the basics of using construction materials. If you are aiming to recruit new staff to your business contact us to arrange a time to visit the training centre where we can show you around, let you watch the students at work, and even arrange a time and place for you to conduct interviews with them if you like.

The Future
As we already said – Moseley Training Centre is new, and with an innovative approach to construction training. Over the coming year we aim to grow the centre both in size and in the number of courses we can offer. We are applying to become accredited by ASET and City & Guilds in the next few months and aim to be working in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council by the end of 2008.
